Prisoner

Well, this is probably the most random thing I've ever done... Knowing all the more important things I should be doing, I decide to plop myself down in front of the computer and paint this.

It started out as an experiment with painting over lines (I need so much practice in that area), and this was the result. Fortitude readers might recognize this as the scene first described in Chapter I. Here's the text:

Another quieter sound drew my attention, and with a start I realized it came from within that very cell. Quickly I released the bars and stepped away, listening warily.

But it wasn't a groan. It sounded more like breathing—like panting. Someone in that cell—a man, by the sound of it—still struggled to catch his breath.

A man? Here among ReDeads?

Caution and concern warred within me, but the latter feeling quickly prevailed. I peered into the cell, and as my eyes adjusted I could just make out the prisoner's dark, masculine shape.

Stripped from the waist up, he sat against the far wall. His arms stretched high above his head, suspended by chains, and his body sagged tiredly beneath them. His head fell limp toward his chest, his face hidden by dirty, overgrown hair. Save for the rise and fall of his chest, he sat completely still. Save for his shuddering breaths, he remained completely silent.

He made a pitiful sight.

I'm actually pleased with how it came out, which is rare for a perfectionist like me... It took me somewhere between 2 or 3 hours.
